Your privacy, in plain words.
The free tool has no account and keeps nothing. Grill in chat keeps only what you choose, encrypted, and you can delete it. Here is everything that is sent, and everything that is counted.
Our four promises
- Your decisions are never public. We never publish a decision, and we never tie one to your name in public. Not in examples, case studies, marketing or anywhere else.
- No ads. Grill shows no ads and has no advertising partners.
- We never sell your data. Not your decisions, your email or your usage. Not to anyone.
- We never train AI on your decisions. Grill improves by practising on made-up examples. The AI services that judge your decision are asked, on every request, not to keep it or collect it (zero data retention).
Your decisions
The reflection at the end of a grill stays in your notes. This website does not store it. Only the short summary you approve is shared, never your notes or files. If you copy and paste, it goes to the AI you paste it into. With the one-click version, it goes only to AI services that don’t store it, plus a quality check that’s on by default (Grill tells you each time, and you can turn it off). Email addresses, phone numbers and card numbers are hidden before anything is sent. And Grill gets better by practicing on made-up examples, never on your decisions.
Accounts and keys
An account is only for a key we manage. A starter allowance needs no card. Bring your own key and there is no account. We see your email, the assistant and judge you pick, and your key’s usage (cost and model, never the text). We count sign-ups, keys issued, first grills, allowances used up and upgrade clicks. We don't keep what you decide unless you choose to keep decision records (Grill in chat) or saved report copies (Pro), and you can delete them.
Using Grill in chat (the connector)
Invited testers connect Grill to the AI they use at https://grillyour.ai/mcp.
- Sign-in. You sign in with a code we email you. Use the email your invite went to every time, and check spam if the code doesn't arrive. There's no password. Clerk runs the sign-in for us and keeps your email and the sign-in event.
- Your decision. The decision you send passes through Grill's server in memory to reach the judge, then it's gone. It's never logged.
- The verdict. The verdict is held encrypted for at most 15 minutes so your AI can fetch it.
- Records, only if you say yes. If you choose to keep records, a draft waits encrypted for up to 14 days for your call. Your decision records are then kept encrypted. If you say no, nothing is kept.
- You control them. See, export or delete any record, or all of them, at grillyour.ai/decisions. Deleting your account at grillyour.ai/account removes your records, your key and your sign-in.
- Who can read them. Only you see your records on the site. Grill's maintainers hold the encryption keys, so they could technically decrypt records you chose to keep. They don't read them, and they never publish them.
- What we count. We count the cost, time and model of each grill, plus a monthly spend number for the free allowance. We also keep an anonymous count of how many people use Grill each day, week and month. That count can't list who was counted, and none of it includes the words of a decision.
- Who else is involved. OpenRouter routes your decision to the judge, under zero data retention. Upstash stores the encrypted records. Vercel hosts the site.
This website and the installed tool
This website counts visits anonymously, with no cookies and nothing that identifies you. The installed tool can optionally send one anonymous usage ping to this site after the first successful grill, if you turn that on at install; off by default; never again; never decision words.
The same count can record that a decision record was shown or copied, that a look-back started or finished, and how many records were pasted. It can also record a click on a download, the paste prompt, or the OpenRouter keys page, and an optional channel tag (ref) from a fixed list. A missing tag is left off. It never includes the words of a decision.
Vercel, which hosts this site, does the counting. When Grill turns it on, PostHog counts the same things too, in a PostHog account that belongs to Grill alone. Neither one sets a cookie or saves anything in your browser, and neither builds a profile of you, records the page, or looks up where you are.
